Kakes for Kids was founded to bring priceless moments of joy to disadvantaged children.


In October 2006, Shelia Birdow founded Alabaster Enterprises, Corporation and began the process of
seeking approval as a public charity.


In May 2009 we received 501(c)(3) tax exempt status and immediately began implementing the Kakes for
Kids division; serving the children of Tarrant County!


Kakes for Kids provides by request and at no cost, custom celebration cakes to recognize and honor
birthdays and personal milestone achievements. To locate the children in need, we have partnered with
other nonprofit organizations in our area, whose mission also involves the care and nurturing of
disadvantaged children.  

We have identified more than 20 nonprofit organizations in our area caring for thousands of disadvantaged
children. These organizations will contact us when there is need for a cake, for a child in their care. We
then secure the cake from local bakeries, prepared specific to the child's interests, deliver it to that special
child and receive the reward of that child's joy and appreciation.

In pursuit of our mission, we endeavor to enhance self-worth, instill hope, encourage, inspire and create
positive memories for the many children who might otherwise be deprived of the joy of receiving this gift of
caring  prepared specifically for each child.
